Former bassist Geoff Firebaugh founded a rockabilly band named Hillbilly Casino that are a crowd favorite in downtown Nashville on lower Broadway. Chris Scruggs released a solo album titled Anthem in 2009. As of 2015, he is the bassist and multi-instrumentalist in Marty Stuart’s backing band, The Fabulous Superlatives.

Jan. 2015 · Upon the occasion of the new release, I spoke to the Hillbilly Casino bass player Geoff Firebaugh —a fixture of Lower Broadway who once played bass in BR549, and now constitutes one of the bridges between the revitalization of the area and today. We spoke about Hillbilly Casino, their new album, and Lower Broadway lore.

Juli 2006 · BR5-49 stellte mit ihrem Sound, Stil und sogar mit ihrem Erscheinungbild, das auch ganz unerschrocken retro daherkam, eine jener Alternative-Country-Bands der 90er dar, die von der Kritik am meisten gefeiert wurden. Geoff Firebaugh verliess ebenfalls die Band und startete mit Hillbilly Casino seine eigene Band. Er wurde durch Mark Miller ersetzt. Bei Dualtone Records erfolgte 2006 auch die Veröffentlichung des letzten Albums "Dog Days".
