George James Cholmondeley, 1st Marquess of Cholmondeley, KG, GCH, PC (/ ˈ tʃ ʌ m l i /; 11 May 1749 – 10 April 1827), styled Viscount Malpas between 1764 and 1770 and known as The Earl of Cholmondeley between 1770 and 1815, was a British peer and politician.

On the death of the Hon. James Cholmondeley in 1775 the Clifton or Rocksavage estate near Runcorn (Cheshire), which he had acquired through his first wife, heiress of the Savage family, Earls Rivers, passed to his great-nephew the 4th Earl (later 1st Marquess) of Cholmondeley.
