George Pearson Smith (born 10 March 1941) is an American biologist and Nobel laureate. He is a Curators' Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, US.
This was a dramatic validation of the phage-display idea, and the essential breakthrough recognized by my Nobel Prize award. Scott’s results were published in Science in July 1990 (Scott and Smith, 1990), simultaneously with analogous results from two other labs (Cwirla et al., 1990; Devlin et al., 1990).
