He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in Come Fill the Cup (1952) and Teacher's Pet (1959), finally winning that award for They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
Gig Young was a prolific actor who appeared in films, TV shows and Broadway plays. He won an Oscar for They Shoot Horses, Don't They? in 1969, but died by suicide in 1978 after killing his wife.
