Glenn McClelland, Ween's keyboardist, started playing professionally at age 16 in a piano bar. At the same time he was playing with blues and jazz musicians including Sonny Rhodes, Johnny Copeland, and Richie Cole. In 1987 he joined Blood Sweat and Tears where he remained until 1995.

Dean Ween met Glenn McClelland while drinking at a bar, and later said he had "found a kindred spirit in him, even though we came from totally different musical backgrounds."
