We were founded in 1555 after a bequest to the Fishmongers’ Company to found a school by Sir John Gresham; they continue to work closely with the school to this day. History and Archive. Gresham’s was founded in 1555 by Sir John Gresham, who converted Holt’s Manor House into a Free Grammar School as a result of Henry VIII’s suppression of the Monasteries. This regime had abolished the only local school at St Mary’s Priory in Beeston Regis, leaving local children without access to education.
In Year 9, pupils study the complete curriculum, including exposure to the full set of sciences, humanities, creative subjects and up to three languages. In Years 10 and 11, pupils study up to ten IGCSE and GCSE subjects which enables them to keep open a wide diversity of career opportunities. The School offers a one-year programme for Year 11 ...
Prep School. For Year 3, entrance is based on a satisfactory taster day at the Prep School, which is held in the January preceding entry. Gresham’s Pre-Prep pupils are invited to several Prep School taster events during their time in Year 2, in addition to attending the Taster Day in January.
