Gwylim Johnstone is an Australian mechanical engineer, machinist and prototyper who has specialized in creating custom solutions for iconic brands, international museums, and local artists. Over the years, Gwylim saw a growing need for instant quote laser cutting and bending services in the New York City area, and in 2023 launched Wombat NYC.

I was part of the assembly team that fabricated the custom rings used in the opening ceremony of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Each ring was equipped with pneumatic cannons that shoot snow and vibrators that shake snowflakes over the athletes during the performance.
