University Hub opens in heart of Hackney. Wednesday 24 January marked a new step in the partnership between Bath Spa University and New City College, as its new University Centre – situated in the heart of Hackney in London – was opened by Turner Prize winner, Bath Spa University alumni and local acclaimed artist, Veronica Ryan, OBE.
The college was originally named Hackney College when it was formed in 1974 by the amalgamation of Hackney and Stoke Newington College of Further Education with those sites of Poplar Technical College that had been established in Hackney.
