5. Feb. 2009 · Hair can be singular (one hair), non-count singular (meaning an entire growth of hairs, such as on the head: hair) or plural (three hairs). Whenever the form is singular ("hair") the singular form of the verb is used; when it is plural ("hairs"), the plural verb form is used: "Natasha's hair is long." "There are hairs on your coat."
27. März 2022 · Welsh - Northern. Mar 27, 2022. #4. A strand of hair is a single thin piece of hair especially when twisted together with others or perhaps a thin lock of hair. It can be used similarly for things like thread, fibre, wool or wire. I'd go with 'strand' here - and 'lock' for when it has been cut off. Last edited: Mar 27, 2022.
14. Juni 2007 · Hi Claudio, Personally, I would use the word "fair" to describe a person's general coloring or skin tones, as in "She's very fair-skinned" or "She's very fair and burns easily in the sun." In terms of hair color, "fair" would be equal to "light" and would include a wide variety of "blond" or "very light brown" for example. Starbuck.
10. Aug. 2009 · I have always heard this as an oath, an affirmation, by each little pig, swearing by something he holds dear. Perhaps this is because the version I am familiar with has slightly different wording. Wolf: Little pig, little pig, let me come in. Pig: Oh no, not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin, I'll not let you in.
13. Okt. 2010 · I don't like my hair to be messed up, so every time I think I look ugly, I flip my hair. Por si no entiendan qué es lo que significa "flip my hair" es cuando las mujeres (y también los hombres, por ejemplo Justin Beiber jaja) mueven el pelo para que se quede a un lado. Creo que no me expliqué muy bien. Igual, aquí está mi traducción:
17. März 2013 · It's a way pf describing the profusness of someone's hair, to distinguish it from the neck and face hair (found on horses and lions etc) and from the thin, short hair that might be present on someone's head, unless you extended the description by adding "mane of". In other words, hair and mane are not synonyms and we don't use "mane" as a ...
21. März 2007 · curly dark hair or dark curly hair. Thanks! They are both correct. The only real rule is that an adjective that modifies a phrase has to come before the whole phrase (except when it comes after the whole phrase). So, if you mean dark hair that is curly, you can say "curly dark hair", and if you mean curly hair that is dark, you can say "dark ...
4. Nov. 2013 · "Thread" of hair is not idiomatic. "Piece" of hair is likewise not idiomatic. (People will understand your meaning, but it will be immediately apparent that English is not your first language). One single hair can be referred to as "a hair" or "a strand of hair". Therefore, in your 2nd picture, a "strand" of hair is not being held. Several ...
2. Feb. 2008 · navi said: If a woman's hair is not tied, in a chignon or in plaits, whether it be long or short, would you say: a-Her hair is free. b-Her hair is untied. c-Her hair is loose. d-Her hair is hanging free. e-Her hair is hanging loose. I suppose d and e could be used if the hair is long, but if the hair is short, I don't think 'hanging' would be ...
9. Aug. 2011 · Singapore. English (Singapore/UK), basic Chinese. Aug 9, 2011. #7. For me, wearing the hair up means that the hair is bunned or bunched in some way (in contrast to plaits or pony tails), so it doesn't sound like the contrast that NHHL is looking for. (I encountered 'half up, half down' for the first time in discussions about Kate Middleton's ...
