The Brazos Valley Boys have a long and rich history. The beginning of the band was around 1946 and started as a small classic county group in Waco. It was when Billy Gray and country music hall of famer Hank Thompson combined forces in the late 40’s that produced one of the best western swing bands in the country.
Hatte er mit seinen Brazos Valley Boys zunächst mit Western Swing begonnen, wechselte er später zum Honky Tonk und spielte gelegentlich Rockabilly-Songs ein. 1965 wechselte er zum Warner Brothers Label und kurz darauf zu Dot, wo er eine weitere Serie von Top-10-Hits einspielte.
This 12-CD set includes all of Thompson's 1946-47 Globe and Bluebonnet recordings, as well as his complete 1947-1964 Capitol recorded output. Included are all three of his live LPs including the 1961 ‘Hank Thompson At The Golden Nugget', the first live LP ever done by a solo country singer.
