Hans W.C. Ziech (Wassenaar, 10 mei 1943) is een Nederlands basgitarist. Hij is bekend van de groep Earth & Fire. Ziech werd geboren als zoon van een marineofficier die sneuvelde tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Hij groeide op in een vrijzinnig en academisch milieu, en studeerde enkele jaren wiskunde aan de Universiteit Leiden.
Hans schrijft veel teksten voor de groep en blijft ook na zijn vertrek in 1974 tot 1981 betrokken als tekstschrijver bij de band. Na zijn tijd bij Earth and Fire werkt hij bij Elsevier en later bij Sijthoff Pers (Research & Information). In 1967 the twins Chris (guitar) and Gerard (keyboards) and bass player Hans Ziech founded the formation Opus Gainfull, one year drummer Cees Kalis joined the band. The name was changed into Earth & Fire, because astrologically Chris and Gerard are 'Earth', and Hans and Cees 'Fire'. 10. Feb. 2018 · In 1968, they teamed with the rhythm section of local rivals The Soul: bassist Hans Ziech and drummer Cees Kalis. Influenced by American acid rock, the new band initially gigged as Opus Gainfull. Just prior to entering a talent contest later that year, they renamed the band Earth and Fire.
23. Sept. 2015 · Hans Ziech was the twenty-four year old bass player with a local band, The Soul. Technically, he was a match for Chris and Gerard. So was The Soul’s drummer Cees Kalis. So The Soul’s rhythm section became Opus Gainful’s rhythm section. Eric Wenink, The Soul’s guitarist joined Eric Wenink Opus Gainful for a couple of years.
