- The institute
The Institut Henri Poincaré (IHP) is an international research centre for mathematics and theoretical physics founded by Émile Borel. It is located in central Paris next to two other institutes founded in the 1920s, the Institut Curie and the Institut de biologie physico-chimique.

The Henri Poincaré University, or Nancy 1, nicknamed UHP, was a public research university located in Nancy, France. UHP was merged into University of Lorraine in 2012, and was previously a member of the Nancy-Université federation, belonging to the French Nancy-Metz academy.

Jules Henri Poincaré [ pwɛ̃kaˈʀe] (* 29. April 1854 in Nancy; † 17. Juli 1912 in Paris) war ein bedeutender französischer Mathematiker, theoretischer Physiker, theoretischer Astronom und Philosoph.

Sept. 2013 · Henri Poincaré was a mathematician, theoretical physicist and a philosopher of science famous for discoveries in several fields and referred to as the last polymath, one who could make significant contributions in multiple areas of mathematics and the physical sciences. This survey will focus on Poincaré’s philosophy.
The Henri Poincaré institute (or IHP for Institut Henri Poincaré) is a mathematics research institute in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, on the Sainte-Geneviève Hill, close to a number of other higher education institutions such the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) and parts of the Collège de France.
