Henry Benedict Thomas Edward Maria Clement Francis Xavier Stuart, Cardinal Duke of York (6 March 1725 – 13 July 1807) was a Roman Catholic cardinal, and was the fourth and final Jacobite heir to publicly claim the thrones of Great Britain and Ireland, as the younger grandson of King James II of England.
Henry Benedict Stuart was the last male heir of the House of Stuart, who ruled Scotland and England for centuries. He renounced his claim to the throne and became a Catholic priest, while his brother Charles led the Jacobite rebellion.
Henry Benedict Maria Clement Thomas Francis Xavier Stuart was born March 6, 1725, in the Palazzo Muti (now Palazzo Balestra) in Rome. He was the younger son of King James III and VIII and of his wife, Maria Clementina Sobieska. From his birth he bore the title of "Prince of England, Scotland, France and Ireland".
