Jimmy Hamilton (May 25, 1917 – September 20, 1994) [1] was an American jazz clarinetist and saxophonist, who was a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra . Biography. Hamilton was born in Dillon, South Carolina, United States, [2] and grew up in Philadelphia.

1956’s ‘Historically Speaking’ was released on the jazz independent Bethlehem, and saw the great Duke Ellington revisiting some of his earliest compositions. Recorded in February 1956 with a crack backing band, it contains some of his loveliest arrangements and melodies, including the beautiful ‘Lonesome Lullaby’.

5. Juni 2020 · "The Duke: Historically Speaking" is one of the loveliest albums of the decade, easily one of the Duke's best and probably this is the first CD edition since then. The lush orchestral arrangements are top-class, the groove alternating with the poetry. Incredible that rhythmic controlled madness on "Ko-Ko" (hey, The Bonzo Dog was here!)!!
