En brazos de la mujer madura, loosely based on the novel In Praise of Older Women, is a 1997 Spanish coming-of-age film set during and after the Spanish Civil War. As well as recounting the amorous education of a young man, it evokes the political and social conditions of the time.

20. Nov. 2022 · Subject: Excellent range of movies. Mostly Canadian movies, many independent films in a very Canadian style. Some documentaries or "based on a true story" movies, lots of slice of life and a few romantic comedies. Nice alternative to mainstream American movies.
In the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War, a young man comes of age sexually, through a string of relationships with a wide range of mature, older women. Andrés, nearly 16 in July of 1936, looks for love and fulfillment in Barcelona, during and just after Spain's civil war.
András Vayda ( Tom Berenger) grows up in a turbulent, war-torn Hungary, where he procures local girls for the occupying G.I.s during World War II. Disappointed by the girls his age, he meets Maya ( Karen Black ), a married woman in her 30s, who tutors him in love and romance.
