Zaca: Making of the Film. 7m 42s. This is the story behind the story. It's often the way documentaries come about - by accident. In 1978 San Francisco filmmaker, Luther Greene was busy with his film production company when he received a phone call that would lead him on a decade plus journey to bring an incredible story to the screen.

Zaca is featured prominently in the 1947 Orson Welles film The Lady from Shanghai. A documentary short film Cruise Of The Zaca which features Flynn and his father Theodore Thomson Flynn , an eminent marine biologist, collecting marine samples in the semi-tropics, was made in 1952 and has been shown on the Turner Classic Movies TV channel.
