Simon Phillips (born 6 February 1957) is an English jazz, fusion and rock drummer, [2] songwriter, and record producer, based in the United States. He worked with rock bands during the 1970s and 1980s, and was the drummer for the band Toto from 1992 to 2014.
Entstehungsgeschichte. Die Idee, ein langes Instrumentalstück zusammen mit gesungenen Liedern auf ein Album zu bringen, hatte Oldfield bereits zuvor bei Platinum, Five Miles Out und Crises, später auch noch bei Islands und Heaven’s Open; allerdings ist The Lake diesmal an letzter Stelle und im Gegensatz zu den über 20-minütigen Werken der oben genannten lediglich 12 min 11 s lang.
