1998 hatten die Aufnahmen für Hides drittes Album Ja, Zoo begonnen. Hide verstarb jedoch noch während der Aufnahmen. Das Album wurde unter Verwendung von Probeaufnahmen und mit Hilfe seines Bruders Hiroshi fertiggestellt. 4. Sept. 2016 · X Japan and hide, Part II. On the morning of May second, 1998, at 08:52 AM, X Japan lead guitarist Hideto Matsumoto, known as hide, was pronounced dead at a Hiroo hospital. The cause of death listed was suicide by hanging, but hide seemed to have no reason to do such a thing, a sentiment his bandmates Yoshiki and Taiji shared.
