Jacob Wolfowitz died on July 16, 1981 in Tampa, Florida, following a heart attack. At the time his death, he was Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at the University of South Florida, and was active in teaching and research. Jack Wolfowitz was born in Warsaw, Poland on March 19, 1910, and came to the United States. with his family in 1920.
