Jamal Joseph, 2012. Jamal Joseph (formerly Eddie Joseph; 1953) is an American writer, director, producer, poet, activist, and educator. Joseph was a member of the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army. He was prosecuted as one of the Panther 21. He spent six years incarcerated at Leavenworth Penitentiary.
Jamal was named one of the top twelve African American New York educators in the DAILY News Black History Month issue. He has been featured in the New York Times, ABC's Nightline, ESPN's "One Night in Vegas" BET's "American Gangster", VH1's "Lords of the Revolution" and HBO's Def Poetry Jam.
