Zusammen mit Mercedes holte Vowles zwischen 2014 und 2021 sieben Fahrer- und acht Konstrukteurstitel in Folge. 2022 fuhr er zudem drei Rennen in der Asian Le Mans Series. Am 13. Januar 2023 wurde bekannt, dass er das Mercedes AMG F1 Team verlässt und am 20. Februar das Amt des Teamchefs bei Williams F1 übernehmen werde.

Jan. 2023 · James Vowles, a 43-year-old Brit with 21 years of Formula 1 experience, has been appointed as the new leader of Williams Racing, the iconic F1 team with a rich history and nine Constructors' Championships. He will join the team on 20 February, ahead of the first Grand Prix in Bahrain, from Mercedes, where he was Motorsport Strategy Director.
13. Jan. 2023 · James Vowles, the former Mercedes strategy director, has been appointed as the new team principal of Williams Racing for the 2023 Formula 1 season. He replaces Jost Capito, who left the team in December after two years at the helm. Vowles will join Williams on February 20 and lead the British team with a young driver line-up of Logan Sargeant and Alex Albon.
