Jannaro "Jan" Uvena (born August 29, 1950) [1] is an American musician, best known for playing drums with a number of notable rock bands, including Alice Cooper 's backing band, Iron Butterfly, Alcatrazz, and Signal. Uvena retired from the music business in 2000 and, as of 2016, manages a U.S. Cellular store in Walpole, Massachusetts.

Jan Uvena is perhaps best known as drummer in Alcatrazz, the band that featured guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai. Jan Uvena also played with Alice Cooper's live band in the '80s and with the Pointer Sisters. He has also drummed with Harvey Mandel, Jonas Hansson Band, Paley Brothers, Pipedream, Signal and Stephen Stills.

Juli 2020 · Despite the high profile names like Bonnet and Malmsteen, it was actually the band’s other members; then Alice Cooper drummer Jan Uvena as well as former New England bassist Gary Shea and keyboardist Jimmy Waldo, that brought me to the table. Despite the strength of that debut record, Alcatrazz could not quite escape its underground status.
