James Patrick Clench (May 1, 1949 – November 3, 2010) was a Canadian bassist, vocalist and songwriter known for his roles in the rock bands April Wine and Bachman–Turner Overdrive. [4] [5] [6] [7]

5. Nov. 2010 · Jim Clench, a Montreal bass player and vocalist who played with April Wine and Bachman Turner Overdrive, has died of lung cancer. He was 61. He was with April Wine from 1970 to 1975 and BTO from 1977 to 1979, and also wrote songs such as Oowatanite.
Randy was replaced by bassist Jim Clench, formerly of April Wine. Bassist Turner moved to rhythm guitar with Thornton becoming the primary lead guitarist. Clench and Turner shared lead vocal duties.
