James Wayne Stafford (born January 16, 1944) [1] is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and comedian. While prominent in the 1970s for his recordings "Spiders & Snakes", "Swamp Witch", "Under the Scotsman's Kilt", "My Girl Bill", and "Wildwood Weed", [2] Stafford headlined at his own theater in Branson, Missouri, from 1990 to 2020.

Jim Stafford spielte bereits als Jugendlicher in verschiedenen Bands – unter anderem mit Gram Parsons und Kent Lavoie (später "Lobo") im Trio Shilo. Das Trio orientierte sich damals stark an der Musik des Kingston Trios. Nach der High-School ging Stafford nach Nashville. Er begann Songs zu komponieren und nahm erste Demos auf.
