Der Amerikaner Jim Sampson begann bei AFN Munich und war parallel zu seiner Tätigkeit bei Bayern 3 auch bei Ö3 tätig. Im April 1979 war Jim erstmals als Vertretung von Thomas Gottschalk in "Pop nach acht" auf Sendung und machte außerdem für ihn und Jürgen Herrmann den "Rock 'n Roll Report" und den "Rock Almanach".
