Jimmy Witherspoon (* 8. August 1923 [1] in Gurdon, Arkansas; † 18. September 1997 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien ), eigentlich James Witherspoon, von seinen Fans einfach Spoon genannt, war ein US-amerikanischer Blues - und Jazz -Sänger. Im Laufe seiner Karriere soll er an über 200 Alben beteiligt gewesen sein.
Witherspoon made his first records with Jay McShann 's band in 1945. He first recorded under his own name in 1947, [4] and two years later with the McShann band, he had his first hit, "Ain't Nobody's Business", [2] a song that came to be regarded as his signature tune.
