Johan Rockström (born 31 December 1965) is a Swedish scientist, internationally recognized for his work on global sustainability issues. He is joint director [1] of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany, together with economist Ottmar Edenhofer .

Johan Rockström is a scientist and co-developer of the planetary boundaries framework, a tool to guide sustainable development based on the nine environmental limits that affect human well-being.
