John Aspinwall Roosevelt was the only son of Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt who did not have political aspirations. He was a businessman, philanthropist, and a Republican who worked at Filene's, served in the navy, and supported Dwight Eisenhower's bid for the presidency. He was also close to ER and lived with her at Val-Kill until her death in 1962.
