John Claypole (21 August 1625 – 26 June 1688) was an officer in the Parliamentary army in 1645 during the English Civil War. He was created Lord Claypole by Oliver Cromwell , but this title was not recognised after the Restoration of 1660.

CLAYPOOLE or CLAYPOLE, JOHN ( d. 1688), Cromwell's son-in-law, was the son of John Claypoole of Norborough, Northamptonshire. John Claypoole, senior, was one of those who refused to pay ship-money, and was created a baronet by the Protector on 16 July 1657 ( Noble, ii. 374).
