Vor 3 Tagen · The inspiration for the song came from lead singer Elliot Lurie’s experience on a trip to Cape Cod. During his travels, he visited a bar where he met a barmaid named Randy. Lurie was enchanted by the woman’s beauty and imagined what her life would be like if she fell in love with a sailor. The song’s lyrics were later changed to “Brandy” to fit the melody better.
