    Paiva was born in Bristol, Rhode Island. In the early 1970s, Paiva was a member of the band the Happeningsand a studio musician. Paiva played with the band the Four Seasons in the mid-1970s, playing on such records as their 1976 song, "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)" and 1975's "Who Loves You".

    In the 1980s, Paiva married and moved to Germany where he became a music teacher. Over the years, he has made numerous recordings of his own.
