Leben. John Wood studierte Rechtswissenschaften am Jesus College in Oxford, in dieser Zeit entdeckte er sein Interesse für das Schauspiel. Später war er am Old Vic Theatre, wo er unter anderen neben Richard Burton auftrat, und am Royal Court tätig. Seine erste Filmrolle spielte Wood im Filmdrama A Stolen Face aus dem Jahr 1952.

John Wood CBE (5 July 1930 – 6 August 2011) was an English actor, known for his performances in Shakespeare and his lasting association with Tom Stoppard. In 1976, he received a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for his performance in Stoppard's Travesties.
John Wood. Actor: WarGames. Studied law at Jesus College, Oxford, but became president of OUDS by his final year, when he played the lead in "Richard III" to wide critical acclaim. Subsequently joined the Old Vic, where among other roles he played "the Dauphin" to Richard Burton's "Henry V".
