Hoyt Wayne Axton (March 25, 1938 – October 26, 1999) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and actor. He became prominent in the early 1960s, establishing himself on the West Coast as a folk singer with an earthy style and powerful voice.
Hoyt arbeitete während der Jahre 1969-1970 für Three Dog Night, der Song “Joy To The World” wurde ein #1 Hit in den Pop- und in den Countrycharts, ausserdem international ein Riesenerfolg mit über 1 Million verkauften Platten. Der Nachfolgesong, Hoyt’s “Never Been To Spain” wurde ein #10 Hit 1972.
