Johnny Hott is the former drummer for the House of Freaks, a musical duo with singer/guitarist Bryan Harvey. [1] . He was also one of three drummers for the band Cracker. He has also played drums for indie supergroup Gutterball and drums and keyboards for Sparklehorse . Hott remains an active musician and lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Johnny Hott was the singer-guitarist for the postpunk Americana duo House of Freaks, who was also a friend of the victims of the Harvey family arson/murder in 2006. He wrote the song "Daughters" for the band's album "Brighter Than Creation's Dark" after the tragedy, using his own experience of the fire and the horror of the crime. The song explores the themes of loss, grief, and redemption through a dreamlike voice-from-heaven motif.
