Jonas of Bobbio (also known as Jonas of Susa) (Sigusia, now Susa, Italy, c. 600 – after 659 AD) was a Columbanian monk and a major Latin monastic author of hagiography. His Life of Saint Columbanus is "one of the most influential works of early medieval hagiography."

Gewaltige Wogen hätten das Schiff zurück an die Küste gespült, so berichtet Jonas von Bobbio, und dort drei Tage auf Grund liegen lassen. Erst nachdem Columban und seine Jünger das Schiff samt Gepäck verlassen hätten, sei die Flut zurückgekehrt, und das Schiff konnte in See stechen.
Das älteste davon ist die Lebensbeschreibung des heiligen Columban, geschrieben in den 640er Jahren von Jonas von Bobbio. Gallus war ein Schüler des Mönchsvaters Columban und begleitete diesen auf seiner Reise durch Europa, bevor er sich um das Jahr 612 am Bodensee von seinem Lehrer trennte.
