    Ryan Kisor (born April 12, 1973) is an American jazz trumpeter. A native of Sioux City, Iowa, Kisor learned trumpet from his father, Larry Kisor, and started playing in a local dance band (the Eddie Skeets Orchestra) at age ten.

  7. Ryan Kisor was born in 1973 in Sioux City, Iowa, and began playing trumpet at age 4. In 1990, he won first prize at the Thelonious Monk Institute’s first annual Louis Armstrong Trumpet Competition; in 1991, he enrolled in Manhattan School of Music where he studied with trumpeter Lew Soloff, joining the JLCO in 1994.
