Juli 2020 · Karl Kautsky was known as the Pope of Marxism in the early 20th century, but until recently he appeared to have been almost forgotten. 1 He was the leading theorist of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD), a nominally Marxist mass workers’ party, and the Second International of socialist parties in the late 19th and early 20th century.
The first major study of Karl Kautsky, considered the most influential Marxian theoretician in the world, from 1895 to 1914. Outside of Friedrich Engels, Kautsky did more to popularize Marism than any other person. An entire generation of Marxists, including Lenin and Trotsky, learned the doctrine in large part from Kautsky.

20. Jan. 2004 · This text is taken from the 1909 translation by A.M. Simons of Kautsky’s work, published by Bloch. There is no introduction. There is a much better translation by Raymond Meyer and published by Humanities Press in 1996 but this is still in copyright and will be available in many libraries. The 1909 edition is now quite difficult to get hold of.
