16. Jan. 2024 · William Reed is organizing this fundraiser. On the evening of January 11th, Kenneth Lundgren, a friend to many lost his life. A group of close friends are trying to plan a memorial service in his honor. We are asking for support from those who knew Ken to help make this happen.
22. Nov. 2019 · Ken Lundgren, who played rhythm and pedal steel guitar for The Outlaws from 1962 to 1964, later worked in local and commercial radio. he died last month. Lead guitarist Rodger Mingaye was recruited by Joe Meek in 1962 from Screaming Lord Sutch’s Savages. he went on to perform in a Bruce Springsteen tribute band.
By 1962, Groom brought his brother-in-law in, Ken Lundgren who had been playing on the radio as Ken 'Steel Guitar' Lundgren (8) and fronting a rock band 'The Pacers' in British Colombia, Canada (7).
Kuy was replaced by Roger Mingay, Hawkins by Ken Lundgren and Graham by Don Groom. This line-up plays on their fourth (and best, IMHO) single, "Ku-Pow!"/"Last Stage West", released in February 1962. "Ku-Pow!" was clearly inspired by Duane Eddy's "Shazam!", but for me this does not detract from its greatness. After this, "Sioux Serenade"/"Fort Knox" was a slight disappointment, melodic though ...
A different version of this story, originating from Greg Prevost and Larry Kulai, states that Ken Lundgren of The Outlaws was the original owner of the guitar and that it belonged to him until around 1962.
