Kim Young-sam (Korean: 김영삼; Hanja: 金泳三; Korean pronunciation: [ki.mjʌŋ.sam] or ; 20 December 1927 – 22 November 2015), often referred to by his initials YS, was a South Korean politician and activist who served as the 7th (14th election) president of South Korea from 1993 to 1998.
Kim Young-sam (; * 20. Dezember 1927 in Geoje, Korea; † 22. November 2015 in Seoul, Südkorea [1]) war ein südkoreanischer Politiker. Vom 25. Februar 1993 bis 25. Februar 1998 war er Staatspräsident, und somit nach 32 Jahren der erste Zivilist in diesem Amt.

Kim graduated from Seoul National University in 1952 and was first elected to the National Assembly in 1954. A centrist liberal, he was successively reelected until 1979, when he was expelled.
