  3. Kyriakos Pittakis, the first Greek Ephor of Antiquities, dedicated his life to the rescue, conservation and publication of Greek monuments. He was born in Athens in 1798.

  4. In 1833 he founded together with other prominent personalities the Archaeological Society at Athens in which he served as secretary and vice-president. Also, he was the writer and editor of the journal Archaeologike Ephemeris. The archaeologist Kyriakos Pittakis (1798‐1863).
