June 14, 2001 [1] The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana. It is located at 1207 Columbia Street in Lafayette, Indiana. It is also a contributing property in the St. Mary Historic District .
The flag of Lafayette, Indiana, was adopted on April 9, 2007. Mayor Tony Roswarski asked the Mayor Youth Council in 2006 to design the flag, and after a period of months spent researching flag design and the history of Lafayette , the Youth Council finalized their design which was then adopted by the City Council.

01000622 [1] Added to NRHP. 2001. St. Mary Historic District is a national historic district located at Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. In 1864, St. Mary's Catholic Church relocated from its original site at Fifth and Brown Streets to Columbia Street. With the move, many of the congregation also moved to this area.
The Lafayette area would be part of this diocese for the next 87 years. Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana 1944 to 1965. Pope Pius XII erected the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana on October 21, 1944, with territory of the Diocese of Fort Wayne. The new diocese had 54 parishes and an approximate population of 31,700 Catholics.
