Lalo Schifrin. Boris Claudio " Lalo " Schifrin (born June 21, 1932) [1] is an Argentine-American pianist, composer, arranger, and conductor. He is best known for his large body of film and TV scores since the 1950s, incorporating jazz and Latin American musical elements alongside traditional orchestrations.
In April 1989, Lalo Schifrin was appointed Music Director of the Glendale Symphony Orchestra, and he served in that capacity for six years. He was commissioned to write the Grand Finale for an event that took place in Caracalla, Italy, July 7th, 1990, to celebrate the finals of the World Cup Soccer Championship.

While growing up in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, young Lalo started his piano studies at age 6 with Enrique Barenboim, father of conductor-pianist Daniel Barenboim. He would go on to become the music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1991-2006).
