Laura Orsini, Lady of Carbognano (Rome, 30 November 1492 - Rome, 1530) was an Italian noblewoman, daughter of Giulia Farnese and, presumably, of her lover Pope Alexander VI Borgia. Biography. Laura Orsini was born in Rome, Italy, on 30 November 1492. She was the only child of Giulia Farnese (Pope Paulus III's sister).
In ihrem im Staatsarchiv Neapel aufbewahrten Testament vermachte sie all ihren Besitz der gemeinsamen Tochter mit dem Papst, Laura Orsini. Ihrem Bruder hinterließ sie einzig ihr Bett, ein zynischer Hinweis auf eine bedeutende Ursache seines Aufstieges.
Die Orsini sind eine weit verzweigte römische Adelsfamilie, die ursprünglich unter dem Namen Bobonen bekannt war und zwischen 1100 und 1900 maßgeblichen Anteil an der italienischen Geschichte hatte. Aus der Familie Orsini kamen drei Päpste, 24 Kardinäle und zahlreiche andere hohe kirchliche Würdenträger sowie weltliche Fürsten.
