Lawrence Sidney Eagleburger was the 62nd Secretary of State from 1992 to 1993. He served as a diplomat for 27 years and had a long career with the Department of State, including as Ambassador to Yugoslavia, Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, and Acting Secretary of State. He was known for his role in Yugoslavia's disintegration and the First Persian Gulf War.

Lawrence Sidney Eagleburger was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 1, 1930, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin (B.S.,1952). After college, Eagleburger enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as a first lieutenant, before returning to the University of Wisconsin and earning his M.A. in 1957.
