Leon Hughes Sr. (May 6, 1930 – March 1, 2023) was an American rhythm and blues singer. He was the last surviving original member of The Coasters . Biography. Leon Hughes was an original member of The Coasters ( Bobby Nunn, Carl Gardner, and Billy Guy ). He recorded with the original group line-up until 1958.
Leon Hughes is an Irish actor who has received widespread critical acclaim for his powerful performance as "Robert Thompson" in the Oscar nominated short film Detainment (2018). He received the Best Actor Award at the 2018 Richard Harris International Film Festival for his performance in the film.

Aus Anlass des 50-jährigen Bandjubiläums im Oktober 2005 zog sich der 1928 geborene Gardner allerdings als Leadsänger zurück, er starb im Juni 2011 als das zweitletzte Mitglied der Originalbesetzung (damit lebt nur noch der 1932 geborene Leon Hughes aus der Originalbesetzung).
