  1. 23. Okt. 2014 · The Journal of Gospel Music is saddened to learn of the passing of LeRoy Crume. LeRoy was a member of Chicago's Crume Brothers and the Soul Stirrers. The Crume Brothers are credited for introducing the electric guitar into quartet music and many were members of the Soul.

  2. The Soul Stirrers were an American gospel music group, whose career spans over eighty years. [1] The group was a pioneer in the development of the quartet style of gospel, and a major influence on Soul, Doo wop, and the Motown sound, some of the secular music that owed much to gospel.
