Dadiani musste 1691 als Herrscher Chikovani (georgisch ჩიქოვანი) abdanken, die Nachfahren trugen aber weiterhin den Familiennamen Dadiani und den Titel Fürsten von Mingrelien.
Bald nachdem die wertvolle Ikone von Vlacherna wieder in Sugdidi eingetroffen war, hat der Fürst Lewan V. Dadiani eine Kirche zwischen 1825-1830 gebaut und sie der Ikone der Mutter Gottes von Vlacherna geweiht. Die Kirche war in der Sowjetzeit geschlossen, aber seit 1990 ist sie wieder im Betrieb.
