DDP. The German Democratic Party ( DDP) was founded in 1918, emerging from the left-wing liberal Progressive People’s Party. Originally, after the November Revolution, there were plans to bring all liberal forces together. Yet it proved impossible to integrate the right-wing liberals grouped around Gustav Stresemann.
Elections. The Democratic Farmers' Party of Germany ( German: Demokratische Bauernpartei Deutschlands, DBD) was an East German political party. The DBD was founded in 1948. It had 52 representatives in the Volkskammer, as part of the National Front. The DBD participated in all GDR cabinets (with the exception of the last GDR cabinet).
Meant as an attempt for reconciliation, a vast majority of the parliament approved it, but the liberals were at strife among themselves and the Progressive Party finally split apart—the right-wing which supported Bismarck's policy seceded to form the National Liberal Party in 1867 while a democratic-republican wing in Southern Germany seceded to form German People's Party in 1868.
