  3. Over the next 20 years, more than 30 members passed through the group including Lon "Deacon" Freeman, Calvin Newton, Joe Allred, Cat Freeman, and a teen-aged Glen Allred. Fowler launched a group called the Oak Ridge Quartet at least four times. The 1943 group left Fowler en masse to form the Stone Mountain Quartet around 1949.

  6. 16. Nov. 2023 · Just three weeks after the first atomic bomb was dropped on Japan, Wally renamed the Harmony Quartet the Oak Ridge Quartet with LonDeaconFreeman, Curly Kinsey and Johnny New and played the Grand Ole Opry under that new and exciting name – the Oak Ridge Quartet.

  7. 21. Nov. 2023 · Family members of Wally Fowler and Lon "Deacon" Freeman attended the unveiling. Rosie Mosteller, Freeman's oldest child, attended with sisters Susan Hill and Lynn Starks and brother Danny. Mosteller said she and her siblings were the reason Freeman quit performing on the road.
