Louis Edward Brus (born August 10, 1943) is an American chemist, and currently the Samuel Latham Mitchell Professor of Chemistry at Columbia University. He is the co-discoverer of the colloidal semi-conductor nanocrystals known as quantum dots. In 2023, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Okt. 2023 · Louis Brus, a former professor and alumnus of Columbia, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on quantum dots, nanoparticles so tiny that their size determines their properties. He is currently the Samuel Latham Mitchill Professor Emeritus, and Special Research Scientist at Columbia. He is one of 87 Columbians to win a Nobel Prize.
